Frequently Asked Questions.
Does my family qualify for Family Compass?
A qualifying family must have at least one child, with their parent or legal guardian. If you feel that your family is facing barriers that keep you from accessing housing, employment, education, healthcare, food, or other supplies, we encourage you to apply to our program. Single adults and couples without children can take advantage of the other resources available in Clark County (see below).
How do I get help if I’m alone or don’t have kids?
There’s help for you too! Family Compass focuses specifically on helping families with children BECAUSE there are other programs available to help individuals. Dial 211 in Washington state to find out about the resources available to you, and in Clark County, call the Council for the Homeless hotline at 1-360-695-9677 to find the help you need. You can also explore the resource links on our site, which are available to everyone.
What is a marginalized family and does my family qualify?
Marginalized populations are groups and communities that experience economic, political, social and cultural discrimination and exclusion. You may have experienced marginalization if someone in your family is Black, Indigenous, a person of color, LGBTQ+, disabled, in prison, or if your family has a very low income, among other reasons. Whatever your situation, please reach out if you need help. Family Compass can connect you with outside resources, when available, and we will work hard to make sure your family has access to your basic needs.
